01/10/2010 - we are going in India ...
Today was a travel day ...
After spending the day in the capital with fantastic Our Socigno, Pamela and Angelo, it was time to leave and so we took the tram and we went to airport to board the flight to London, our plane took off at 13:00 and landed at London Heathrow at 15:30.
we ate a bit 'of fish'n chips and we re-embarked, this time in the direction ... INDIA!
year traveling with us is also Federica, we hope that they behave otherwise leave in a few Indian bride ... who knows maybe a Rumanian and an Indian make a good couple!
02/10/2010 - Delhi
We landed in Delhi at 6:30 am (Delhi Time in Italy have been about 2:00 at night).
As soon as we hurried up the entry formalities we headed towards the exit where we expected, with a sign saying "Shambhoo" Our first contact in Delhi, Mr. Laxman, who welcomed us and took us to our car driven by our driver Mr. Shyam, who will be our driver for the entire trip.
We were accompanied to the hotel and we arranged to meet for the 10 AM
Our hotel in Delhi is "Visaya Delhi Hotel" *****
At 10 AM in the lobby Karen hotel waiting for us on time, a Rajasthani boy who studied art at Delhi and also Italian, it was clear and helpful and there was "stressed out" with the explanations ...
The first visit of the day was that of the Jama Masjid Mosque which is the largest mosque in Asia, the staff here at the entrance, have to wear a "burqa" in Cris and Faith, was a short visit and there has not really impressed ...
Under the stairs leading to the mosque we found a kind of risk and with our guide we took a tour of part of old town and the market, but unfortunately the many shops were closed because on this day we celebrate the "birthday" of the Mahatma Gandhi
After visiting the Muslim place of worship has fallen to that of the Sikhs, and so we visited the Sikh temple of " Gurdwara Bangla Sahib " before entering the temple we took off our shoes, socks, and we covered his head with a "bandana", this place struck us particularly because in addition to being a different place for us, as there was an air of "party" with the Sikhs who were offers, the families that are bathed in the tub to the side of the temple to purify themselves of sins (here swam the carp also huge), but the thing that most impressed us was the visit to the kitchen .... It is just like the kitchen, in fact under the temple there are large kitchens where you prepare the bread and other dishes which are then eaten, sitting on the floor, all together, from rich and poor! A peculiarity of the Sikhs "practitioners" is that you do not cut his beard and hair, which collect in a very precise turban, Sikhs have always with you: a dagger and a comb, a turban, beard and long hair.
After we saw the Sikh Temple Hindu Temple in Delhi where our guide showed us the many depictions of Hindu gods, which are truly endless, and has told us some legends related to these gods.
Around noon we went to India Gate, a monument, shaped like a bow, to commemorate the fallen in both Indian and English who had fought the First World War.
Under this arch Sonia Gandhi wanted to remember the war between India and Pakistan in '79, with an additional monument consists of a bayonet with the tip embedded in the marble and with a helmet on the butt of his rifle to guard this monument there are soldiers of the navy, army and ' aviation is also a military dress uniform that looks like a rooster with a crest on the hat!
From India Gate can be reached through an avenue of huge, the presidential palace, once residence of British monarchs to visit the colony, is now occupied by the President of the Republic and there are two other buildings that are huge home to some ministries.
The last site we visited was that of Qutb Minar, the construction of the minaret, 60 meters high, began in the twelfth century by the Mughal ruler of Afghanistan This complex also consists of a Koranic school and has particularly affected large gardens for its beauty and majesty.
Before returning to the hotel we wanted to visit the residence of Gandhi, and the place where he was killed, but there were many children at the entrance, and an official there said it was the birthday of Mahatma and thus were not Tourists come!
We wanted to visit the area of \u200b\u200bConnaught Place, but our guide told us that it was too late ... that the shops were closed because it was the party of Gandhi ... that there was traffic ....
... We visited a small craft shop ... and then we went back to the hotel
Laxman has invited us to dinner at the house of Manish and here we also met Samuel, a trusted friend and associate of Jordanian and Manish engaged primarily in South India, (really a very interesting person, with his experiences and his life choices).
Dinner prepared by Laxman was very good but for us it was time to go to sleep ...
Tomorrow A
"We are as healthy as a hog ..." (Cris & Faith after several hours of travel on roads shaky Rajasthan!)
Antonio, Cristina Federica &!
